Saxena, a Real Estate Services Leader was addressing at the BW Facility Management Conference & Excellence Awards 2023 in Delhi on Tuesday. He underlined the key factors related to facility management, a growing significance in the corporate world.
“We need professionals committed to facility management, and not just individuals looking at it as an alternative career”, said Sameer Saxena FRICS, IGBC AP, GEM CP, IOSH, Real Estate Services Leader-India, Marsh & Mclennan Companies acknowledging a keynote on “Focus on People Over Place”.
Saxena was addressing at BW Facility Management Conference & Excellence Awards 2023 in Delhi on Tuesday.
He said facility management as a domain is dependent on a lot of stories related to India’s growth. “India and China are anchoring the global growth”, Saxena emphasised underlining GST (Goods and Services Tax) and PMI (Purchasing Manager Index) as the high-frequency indicators of growth.
According to the real estate leader both GST and PMI indicate the growth in the manufacturing and service industry. He further said the recent IT boom in April also clearly supports the growth in facility management.
Addressing the big shift in the corporate sector Saxena said wellbeing, ESG (environmental, social, and governance) return to the office, location, rethinking, layouts, etc are some of the areas responsible for the change.
Subsequently, he highlighted some common challenges the organisations face today like, portfolio handling, value for money, governance, quality control, non-standardised service, communication, privatisation etc.
“Future of work is changing and is evolving the way the industry has been working” Saxena added stressing the fact that covid disrupted the whole industry, leading wellness and sustainability to the current focus today.
Saxena end the keynote by addressing six important industry shifts such as occupancy-linked commercials, increased FM outsourcing for additional value, blending fixed and passthrough costs for flexible commercials, customising KPIs to measure the needs, multiple partnerships to solve CRE deliverables, partnership to derive mutual investments benefits.
