When every talk is about escalating technology and AI, in the security sector, human intervention and their skills still play a vital role, as pointed out by every panellist at BW Security World Conclave & Excellence Awards 2023.
Practice makes a man perfect in his respective field, training is the same practice under the supervision of a mentor that makes an individual more stronger and belligerent. Security is one field where an assigned employee is answerable to many lives, hence the quality needs to be top-notch.
When every talk is about escalating technology and AI, in the security sector, human intervention and their skills still play a vital role.
The picture of physical security has evolved over the years, Talking about the same, Lt Col Jiten Joshi, CSO of Varun Beverages, said, “Today, physical security has totally different dynamics and requirements. As a service provider, it is difficult to match with everyday changing technology and providing the service. Situational awareness has increased. Earlier security guards were just catering for the security part, but now they are expected to be well versed in the technology as well.”
He also added that technology and data are the elements driving the security sector today.
As far as the training is concerned, Rajneesh Sharma, Vice President, Operations, Jaguar Security Services mentioned that the customer is looking for training, The service providers are also pushed for training with the help of Key Performance Indicator (KPI) and Service Level Agreement (SLA).
Sharma clearly said that training helps us to reduce our operational cost and also help us to address the issue of attrition.
Along with physical fitness, the security guards also need to function with their minds, touching upon the same pointer, Harvindra Singh, Chapter Chairman, ASIS International, New Delhi Chapter, said that training programmes need to be modified as per the requirement and time. He also talked about the changes in the training programmes his organisation have made.
Force that is deployed on the ground and the kind of resources provided to them are the couple of elements that make a service provider distinct from the crowd, said, Sharma.
Technology is working on its front but the potential of human intervention can not neglected in terms of security services, therefore it is needed to utilise the technology to assist the human instead of making human an assistance of technology.
